Imagine that about ¾ of your year is spent living in hotel rooms, or on a bus with at least four or five other people, or flying - and then pouring your heart out night after night on a stage in front of hungry audiences who have paid for your performance. It sounds like a glamorous fantasy for a lot of us, but the reality is tough. The road has broken so many souls over the years. This Mule song seems to me like a personal account of life as a traveling musician. ... MORE

Don't know why, but I really dig this song. Maybe being raised up in the Bible belt coming out. I heard a killer version by Taj Mahal, but can't seem to raise it. Not at all sure the Gov'T Mule version will be an acceptable substitute, but we'll give it a spin. Also a definitive reading by Blind Willie Johnson, followed by Depeche Mode for the simple hell of it.

P.S. Gov'T Mule is tre acceptable.
OK, I'll admit to some bias, but any group that can play Mongo Santamaria's Afro Blue and Ozzy Osborne's War Pigs in the same live set is my kind of group. But, then, I also love a good vinaigrette salad dressing, so I'm one of those folks who is fascinated by mixing things together that don't seem like they'd go together. Gov't Mule started as side project between then Allman Brothers Band bassist Allen Woody and guitar player Warren Haynes who were joined by drummer M... MORE
Not a new track for the MOG ... But appropriate!

Somebody's just posted some new videos from Gov't Mule's The Deepest End: Live in Concert. This one features the Dirty Dozen Brass Band with guests Paul Jackson (who performed on the original recording with Herbie Hancock) and Bernie Worrell. For the audio, I've tagged John the Revelator, which also features the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. This entire show was an amazing concert. They started somewhere around 10:00 PM, and didn't finish until nearly 4:00 AM. Guest bassis... MORE

I just had to say that the Mule Show on Halloween was by far one of the best shows I've seen. The first set was a great Mule set with a dabble of Grateful Dead (they did The Other One Jam). Then came our Halloween treat for the evening! They pulled off a whole set of Led Zeppelin! Warren and company, along with the help of Audley Freed, played the entire album "Houses Of The Holy" from beginning to end! It was an incredible evening! If you like Mule and Zeppelin this is a ... For me, the biggest downside to being a music lover (addict, junkie, etc. ) is a missed concert. As if the knowledge that Tom Morello joined Tool at Bonnaroo wasn't bad enough, I just get this email... "This show is flat out why we do MuleTracks. The late-night/early-morning show from Bonnaroo is now available for download. 'Streamline Woman' and 'Brand New Angel' are absolutely thunderous and 'Sweetleaf' and 'War Pigs' leading into 'Soulshine' for a second encore? Ho... MORE
