The artist behind the faces of Gorillaz' 2D, Noodle, Russel Hobbs and Murdoc Niccals is creating a new TV show for the BBC . Gorillaz creator Jamie Hewlett, also co-creator of the comic book Tank Girl, is producing a 60-minute special BBC 3 called Phoo Action.
Based on characters created by Hewlett for The Face comic strip Get The Freebies, "Phoo Action is set in 2012, when London is in the grip of mutant criminals, The Freebies. Only Terry Phoo, a hapless Buddhist ku... MORE

Man Research is one of my favorite Gorillaz songs. It's haunting melody and slow reggae beat is mind blowing.

Gorillaz aspire to be the greatest cartoon band of all time. Of course, there is serious competition for the crown. For decades now, the Archies have sat atop the cartoon mountain surveying the competition. Yes, they really only produced one great single, but what a single it was. (What a tragic irony that the love triangle in the band both fueled their art and also rent the band asunder.) "Sugar Sugar" is a perfect pop song, and the yardstick against which all cartoon rock m... MORE

I love the Gorillaz. With that said if you are a true fan you should go out and get D-Sides. Some of the remixs are a little different, I'm not goin' lie. But songs like Hong Kong (my favorite song by Damon) is still amazing

Gorillaz have caused quite a buzz about their new album of B-sides, rarities and live recordings from their Demon Days, titled D-Sides. Today the animated band uploaded the entire album to their my$pace player for you to listen to! So head over there and listen to D-Sides including the brand new recording of "Hong Kong" a song that's been huge at their live shows, but never officially released. http://www.myspace.com/gorillaz "Rockit" from D-Sides:

Despite being a big fan, I overlooked this song on my first listening. Currently a fix of mine. For such a song, its pretty great. And only the Gorillaz could pull it off. One of the only songs on the album to use a classical template, I was suprised and impressed.... MORE

It was posted earlier in MOG News that the Gorillaz haven't been recording new music lately, but will be releasing some older material that hasn't been released before, or was the B-side to their hits. The new album is called D-Sides. Today, however, Gorillaz announced that they will also be releasing a documentary of behind the scenes Gorillaz action. HanWay Films will release "Bananaz" which will offer the first peek at how the animated band and its music was created. ... MORE

The Gorillaz will release D-Sides, an assortment of B-sides from their previous studio album Demon Days, early demos and previously unreleased tracks. The album will be released November 20th.
Some cool tricks on the rarities album include a Mandarin version of "Dirty Harry," the Bees collabo on "Bill Murray," as well as the collabo with Sugarcubes' Einar Orn on "Stop The Dams." The track is a protest against dam building in Iceland. The bonus disc features remix... MORE

Yay Gorillaz news! While the duo behind the cartoon band haven't made any new Gorillaz tunes (they've been hard at work on a buddhist theatre production), there's going to be a new release nonetheless. November 5th will be the day Parlophone releases D-Sides in the UK and Virgin will release it in the US on the 6th. D-Sides is a two CD collection of previously unreleased music. The first disc consists of early demos, previously unreleased tracks, plus b-sides from Demon D... MORE

It was announced today that a series of vibrators inspired by England's virtual band, Gorillaz are in the works, according to Yahoo.
Each sex toy will apparently feature members of the Gorillaz community; there will be six different designs. Each vibrator will cost $275, or $1,650 for the whole package.
The vibrators were designed by Jamie Hewlett, comic book artist and designer. He is best known for being the co-creator of the comic strip "Tank Girl" as well... MORE

When I first looked at downloading some songs from the Help: A Day in the Life charity album, my only real goal was to get the new Radiohead song. While "I want none of this" is a beautiful song reminiscent of "I will"- I was disappointed that it seemed more like just Thom singing at his piano not a band effort. At that time I was really digging the Demon Days CD and saw they had this song on the album and bought it as an afterthought. From the first listen this son... MORE

Apparently Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn is calling it quits with the cartoon band. He says theyre not going to make any more pop albums! :( However, the fictional band will be starring in a movie directed by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam, and they will also be doing the soundtrack for it. Other then that... arrg.... MORE
