NEW YORK (Reuters) - They are credited with influencing the fashion style of Madonna but British electronica band Goldfrapp don't have much time for the pop diva or other big acts they will be playing with this summer. Grammy-nominated Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, whose fourth album "Seventh Tree" hit No. 2 in Britain in February, will share the big stages at two outdoor British music festivals with hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and Madonna. "I think her fearlessness i... MORE

So I guess the new catch phrase is 'Kill It". So I'm easy, I'll use it, even if I'm not hip like all the cool kids. So what. And Goldfrapp so did kill it Friday evening!
While most of the Mogtipliers were catching The National(who I just haven't been able to get into) I, of course, had to, I mean HAD TO , see my beloved Goldfrapp. All you Nationalists missed out for sure haha! Alison & crew put on an amazing set and I was so in heaven.
There were plenty of subl... MORE

Just by chance, I did. And I was very pleased, too, because those are two musical acts I've heard a lot about on MOG but hadn't heard yet. Goldfrapp was on Jay Leno, and although I've heard snippets here and there this was the first time I got to hear a whole song. I couldn't tell you what song it was, but it was cool. Even cooler and more interesting was the visual aspect. The whole band was wearing white clothing/robes, etc (think Luke Skywalker in the original, if t... MORE

Okay, so I've finally decided to weigh in on the new Goldfrapp album. First, I have to give her credit for doing something quite different this time out. Not only for the sake of crediting someone for trying to rework/reinvent their sound. It would have been incredibly easy for Goldfrapp to simply cash in on the trend towards something danceable these days. In fact, she probably could've killed and made 3 to 4 tracks that would be played at literally every party for the next ... MORE

Over the years I'd heard bits and pieces of Goldfrapp and thought, gee, for newfangly electronic music, that's kind of nice! But then I found their new album, Seventh Tree, streaming on AOL Music...and now it's gone, and I'm seriously missing it. (So, I just bought it, which means their evil plan worked!) The album opens with a nylon-string guitar and then Alison Goldfrapp's voice comes in -- and she's a real singer -- with something unintelligible about clowns, followed by... MORE

Hmmmm, where to begin... I picked up the new Goldfrapp album at the same time I got the new Morcheeba. I love both bands and although completely different, I got into them at the same time and for whatever reason tend to buy the new albums at the same time. This Goldfrapp album is quite a departure from previous efforts. There is much less of an electronic feel and much more of a folky feel. Don't get me wrong, this is not a folk album, but that is all I can come up with ... MORE

It seems most music groups go through cycles in their musical evolution. Eventually most bands hit the “stripped down” phase where they want to simplify their sound. By doing this, a band shows their audience that they don’t need all the bells and whistles in their sound, subsequently showing that their talent is authentic and not a product of the studio. Organic instruments allow for a more intimate mood in a band’s sound and, oddly enough, actually help broaden their soni... MORE

I had seen in the music news section a day or so ago that there was a new video out for Goldfrapp's song "A&E" but when I went to check out the post, the video was no longer available, damnit! So being the enterprising young man that I am I did a search on Youtube. Unfortunately, I found not the desired video but did find this lovely holiday greeting from the band that is just too hilarious. Apparently it was posted on their website prior to xmas. Have a looksee: ... MORE

The enigmatic Goldfrapp have a new album coming out on Mute Records in February and we have a new video today! The new album is called Seventh Tree and hits the streets on February 22-26th depending on your region. The first single is called "A & E" which, judging by the lyrics, stands for Accident & Emergency, like they say in the UK (where the album was recorded)... Here's the new video for "A & E":

The fourth studio album, “Seventh Tree” by British electronic duo Goldfrapp is scheduled for release by Mute Records on February 26, 2008. Goldfrapp have described the album as a “sensual counterpoint to the glitterball glamour of Supernature”, their last studio album of new material in 2005. The album’s first single, “A&E”, is scheduled to be released on February 12, 2008.
The cut we have for you today is called “Little Bird”. I dig the psychedelic sounds, beatles-e... MORE
