GOLDFRAPP have been very quiet on the music front, recording new tunes (no news on a particular sound yet) for a new album and writing the score for NOWHERE BOY - a biopic on John Lennon. Wow is it really that time of year already? nearly Christmas?! I'm happy to share with you a lovely Goldfrapp cover of 'Winter Wonderland' we need an Xmas EP from them! Winter Wonderland (Download )
It seems so obvious to me. Why hasn't someone tapped Goldfrapp to do a James Bond theme? Someone who actually sounds cinematic, instead of Jack White? I guess not understanding these kind of matters is why I don't work in the building on the corner of Hollywood and Vine. This, of course, hasn't got Allison down, as she's busy with a slew of products ready for the impending holiday season. Desp...
The title track from Goldfrapp's Black Cherry doesn't sound very similar at all to the rest of that record. Their second album saw Will Gregory and Alison Goldfrapp moving toward a more dance-oriented blend of disco and glam influences. But "Black Cherry" itself hearkens back to the ambience of debut Felt Mountain. Rumored to be written by Alison about her breakup ("All the world in one grain o...

concert review: Goldfrapp, Great Lake Swimmers @ The Music Hall (Toronto, Ontario), September 14, 2008Goldfrapp @ The Music Hall (September 14, 2008)This past Sunday was a blissful evening of Autumn-toned folk melodies with Toronto's Great Lake Swimmers warming up the audience with its brand of hushed acoustic folk-rock before UK's Goldfrapp took the stage to continue the trend before switching...

Hmmmm, where to begin... I picked up the new Goldfrapp album at the same time I got the new Morcheeba. I love both bands and although completely different, I got into them at the same time and for whatever reason tend to buy the new albums at the same time. This Goldfrapp album is quite a departure from previous efforts. There is much less of an electronic feel and much more of a folky feel....
Time for me to go back home for the holidays! Today was so beautiful that, frankly, I felt too good to go the Toxic Tuesday route. Forgive me, and beware. The ugliness resumes next week.In the meantime, how about one of the most delightful songs in memory? Lend an ear to Goldfrapp's "Happiness," and eyeball the group's brill promo viddie, complete with singer-songwriter Alison Goldfrapp taking on multiple roles. The clip was inspired by Bo...
It seems most music groups go through cycles in their musical evolution. Eventually most bands hit the “stripped down” phase where they want to simplify their sound. By doing this, a band shows their audience that they don’t need all the bells and whistles in their sound, subsequently showing that their talent is authentic and not a product of the studio. Organic instruments allow for a mo
