Pensive, haunting, and just downright lyrical, this song hits me right to the bones every time I hear it. Where's ma cherry?

Suspend your disbelief! After months of nothing...two posts in 48 hours...madness! This is just a brief note really (a quickie!)...who has seen the Irish film 'Once'? After renting it and loving it my sister kindly bought me the soundtrack. For film info, go here... http://www.us.imdb.com/title/tt0907657/ rent, buy, or obtain...just see it. (Tagged is the song I'm really enjoying from the film - thanks for the tip about tagging songs indiepixie - can I ... MORE

Last night i spent time watching re-run 2008 Oscar Award. When Once got award winner of Best Original Song, Falling Slowly, I was totally thrill. Even there are loads of Blogs out there posting, talking, criticizing about Once whatever they said i still want to post Oscar clips of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's fantastic performance on Mog. But I could not even to post anything. Mog just wastes my time over and over again. You can meet trust Moggers here who really s... MORE

While the Coen brothers' No Country For Old Men swept the Oscars in the Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor and Adapted Screenplay categories, it was Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the independent musicians behind the movie Once, who took home the statuette for Best Original Song.
The pair, who tour under the name the Swell Season when Hansard isn't touring with his other band the Frames, beat out Disney composer and eight time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, w... MORE

Proving that there might indeed be a God, the song "Falling Slowly" won an Oscar, allowing the amazing and humble musicians to receive an award for being incredible, on behalf of all indie artists. Those of you who know me or my tastes know that I fell in love with The Frames a few years ago and Glen is the real deal. Once was my favorite movie of 2007 and likely will remain one of my all-time faves.... MORE

Can’t say I didn’t tell him so. In May of last year, I saw an advance screening of the enthralling, musical, romantic Irish film “Once” at the Roxie Film Center in San Francisco - with co-stars Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová in attendance. I also had the good fortune to see Hansard and Irglová play a mini-set of tunes from the movie after the screening, and the even greater fortune to speak with Glen when they were done. Among the terribly flattering things I was compe... MORE

I realise I'm about to become the seven-thousandth person to write about this. I'm okay with that. So it seems to me that awards and competitions don't matter unless you win or are even nominated (See for example the disparaging comments made by non-Brit nominee indie bands about the not as crappy as everyone thinks Leona Lewis, and the relative silence of nominated acts.) Ironically this doesn't apply to sports - the Penguins lost twice over the weekend and I think I ma... MORE

Just to justify the fact that I bought the Once soundtrack less than an hour after it won an Oscar, I want to mention that I've been eyeballing this movie and its music for a while. First, there were the endless drive-time plugs on NPR , then the recommendation of a saxophone player whose opinion of all things entertainment has, over the years, been a pretty reliable touchstone. I even almost rented the movie on my last trip to the video store, but I wasn't in the mood to ha... MORE

Me and the Box Office Babes have a monthly "meeting" at one of our favorite restaurants, Dish. So we girls (and sometimes a boy or two) gather and gossip and catch up on the important stuff. Sweet Casey was there and at one point she turned to me and said, "Have you seen Once?" I immediately start gushing about my incredible love for the film. This would be when Casey pointed out the chef at Dish looks exactly like Glen Hansard. So we blatantly stared across the room as ... MORE

We had a bunch of people over last night and we watched the 2006 musical, Once. Muscal in the sense that there aren't 6 minutes straight of footage that they aren't singing, but its about people that sing a lot so it doesn't seem forced like some show tunes number. Anyway it was magical, and now, my roommates and I are summarily obsessed with this soundtrack.... MORE

i just watched this movie, "Once", last night. i cried. the music is painfully beautiful. if i could play the acoustic guitar it's exactly what i'd be singing.

Watch this movie, buy the soundtrack, watch this movie. It's sweetness will break your heart, in a good way (if that's possible).
