I have some good news to announce today...Ghostland Observatory will be performing at Stubb's on November 14. That might seem like a long time from now, but I'm pretty sure this will be the first time they have played at Stubb's, and if it's anything like the other shows they play in Austin it will sell out quickly. If you want to beat out the scalpers, tickets for the Stubb's show will go on s...
(check out all the photos from this show here and another show here)One of my favorite live shows EVER is Ghostland Observatory. Their techno beat isn't my usual dig, but one glance at their performance at Lollapalooza 2007, and I was hooked. I've had the pleasure of seeing them several times since and introduced them to many of my friends. Recently, on my...er...29th birthday, Ghostland came t...
Seriously. Is there a quota? Because I have a new one: Ghostland Observatory.I caught this power duo from Austin at Lollapalooza on the recommendation of "Librarianguish":http://mog.com/Librarianguish as did "zeroskilz":http://mog.com/Zeroskilz, who flew this weekend to Seattle to catch GLO at a sold out show. Librarianguish joined us as well as my good buddy Jaye.First off: the show was am...
Ghostland ObservatoryThey are EXCELLENT and HIGHLY CREATIVE and a breath of fresh air in an era of cynicism.I always Tivo Austin City Limits. On the show they played after Bloc Party and I fell in love with the group right away. Every time I listen to their music I like it better and better. After seeing the show on my Tivo, my buddy bought three Ghostland Observatory CDs today and we listen...
Austin, Texas-based dance act Ghostland Observatory blew onto the scene, and in a matter of three years will have released three albums and a DVD (Live From Austin City Limits. The duo consisting of frontman Aaron Behrens (guitar, vocalist) and producer Thomas Turner will release their third album, Robotique Majestique on February 26th via their own imprint Trashy Moped. I haven't done a post in over two months...how can I be blazing?Well. I'll take it. Went out to see Ghostland Observatory with Amber and Jaye last weekend. WOW! Slowly getting my photos uploaded to Flickr. Here's a teaser for you...Nice to see MOG working today. And a big wave hello to my librarian friends, who I suspect will be visiting soon...
Don't know how many of you already know Ghostland Observatory. I've been listening to them on kexp for some time now and I love the band. First song I heard was Sad Sad City........great track. Couldn't find a mp3 of that so instead I'll post an equally great song.....PIANO MAN. This calls for dancing and calling in sick tomorrow.Order the album Paparazzi Lightning at www.trashymoped.com
Looked for clips but none do it justice. These guys brought it. Rockin' guitar riffs, and 2 guys in the whole band. Amazing light show. Reminded me of Spiritualized. Look out for them.
There are two groups I've been wanting to see for quite some time. Ghostland Observatory is one of them.I didn't get to see them in Austin for South By, but apparently, even Playboy is hip to them, as can be seen above. While there, I did hear a passing comment that the male pigtails will never catch on, which was false from my short experience at Barton Springs (and hell, people from the PR re...
I haven't posted in what seems to be eons, but I had a slightly thrilling experience that past weekend which I feel warrants a post. We checked out the bad asses in capes and skin tight jeans known as Ghostland Observatory at the new House of Blues in Dallas this past Saturday. The evening wore on, they finally took the stage by 11pm after the longest DJ set in history complements of DJ Dr Jack...
If that dude from the Darkness was the lead singer of the Faint and the Faint met the Rapture at a Rave in 1981 with Daft Punk spinning, the resulting love child would be Ghostland Observatory. Packing bigger drama and more bombast then many of their electro-funk-punk-disco peers, the Austin, TX duo blew me away with their sound and their show at Webster Hall in March. I had never heard the g...
Check out this awesome video of the University of Texas Band playing "The Band Marches On" with Ghostland Observatory at the Austin City Limits music festival on October 3, 2009!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq5huku945c
I had a chance to catch the electro-rock duo from Austin, Texas last week check out the rest of the pics on the Denver Post Reverb Section.... and here.
the GLO (they have a wiki now) are playing bowery ballroom next wednesday, april 18th. this no longer really counts as seeing them before they get big, but nonetheless, be there.
ghostland observatory should be the biggest band out of austin right now. their live shows are amazing. i couldn't find any video to do them justice, but a friend shot the first one at a wedding a while back down in tejas. the second is from a KEXP event. the sound is crap on both so you need to just go and buy their cds. trust me. ha.
