George Harrison

HOW FAR FROM FUNKY CAN ONE GET?

.....Well, pretty damn far. Especialy with WonderWall Music, George Harrison's infuriating first solo release. Its an unfocused mish-mash of colliding iseas, most still-born. But there are a few tracks that do not.........hurt. This may be one of them, & this may also be a track on which G.H. actualy played.......As George Clinton would surely opine.....This has zero% groovitivity! No fu...

........George Harrison.......Always a delight. This little swipe at McCartney slips by unnoticed on George's Thirty Three & 1/3.....WARNING: Political content! You've been warned.........Joseph Stalin once refered to members of the American Communist party as "usefull idiots". It seems the grassroots "tea pary" tidal wave brewing has found a usefull idiot. ..........These comments offend &...

DRILLING A HOME.............

......It May be a bit misleading to call this a George Harrison Track as there's no way of knowing what part, if any, George played in this performance. But I find it to be a pleasant little diversion.....atypically jaunty. Jaunty? C'mon! Who says jaunty anymore? But yeah.....I like to put this unlisted in certain mixes & ask people to guess from whence it came. (wait a minute! Whence? ...

TIMES I FIND THINGS HARD TO SAY, WITH USELESS WORDS GETTING IN THE WAY. SILENCE OFTEN SAYS MUCH MORE THAN TRYIN' TO SAY WHAT'S BEEN SAID BEFORE. (Don't be pu off by the title of the track, just listen to George gently rock your soul)

George Harrison's lyrics were often profound in their stark simplicity.Often perceived as the silent, mystic, mysterious Beatle, and yet his lyrics were far more direct and "on the surface" than Lennon's or McCartney's.**Don't come around, leave me alone, don't bother me**Just about says it all, no?Paul McCartney always loved the limelight. Lennon manipulated it, showed us shadow puppets and h...

Another track from Jools Hollands Big Band Rhythm & Blues cd, and as I mentioned previously, the last track recorded and _completed_ by George Harrson before his death.A very fine cd for anyone who loves good music played well. An impressive array of guests get to strut their stuff in a project that IMHO is two cuts above the usual result of such concepts.

Isn't it a Pity (earliest demo version) - George Harrison

  • Artist:

Let it Roll: The Songs by George Harrison
  • Track:
Isn't it a Pity (earliest demo version)

This earliest demo version of Isn't it a Pity is not available on the CD version of Let it Roll: Songs by George Harrison. Such a shame that you need itunes to buy this beautiful rendition of Isn't it a Pity.EMI needs to wise up and do Harrison fans right by not forcing them to purchase two different versions of the same album. Give us this mp3 as a free download, already! Makes me wonder what ...

Dehra Dun (unreleased studio version) - George Harrison
5 months ago

On the eve of the release of Let It Roll: The Songs of George Harrison, I wanted to share an outtake that I thought should be added to this new compilation. Dehra Dun is a song that George started writing during the 1968 pre-White Album sessions in Rishikesh. This is a studio version recorded sometime after George left The Beatles. Here's hoping that Olivia releases a proper Harrison Anthology ...

Sounding more like a 'vocal guide' than a cover, George's demo of Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy" raises some questions. Not the least of which would be; Why did Ringo need a vocal guide for a song he wrote?

Some people may think that George's first solo album was All Things Must Pass. however, if memory serves me well, George did 2 experimental projects prior to that album. This is a track from a disc that was a disappointment to some when it came out, because most of it did not sound like typical Beatles fare or like All Things Must Pass did later and you couldn't sing along.Anyway, some may have...

Well, Here we are, New Year's Day. I'm up early 'cause I cannot sleep late in the morning, no matter what the night before entailed. But truth be told Wifey & I spent the eve sippin' wine, listenin' to good music & playin' scrabble. (I know, we are party animals.)So this track is from George Harrison's "Dark Horse" cd. A cd that is hardly more than an official bootleg.EMI/Capitol knew of Ge...

LOST IN THE SHUFFLE_Found In The Shuffle_
10 months ago

So many have extolled the virtues of the shuffle that to do so again would be foolish.....Isn't shuffle mode great? Turning up forgotten delights at just the right moment? (although this also is true) George Harrison never really got around to finishing this track...It's too bad 'cause its a nice melody. In My humble....George wrote such great melodies & then buried them under sinful over...

This tune, no doubt, would have been released as a "single" by any other artist. Unfortunately, George was standing in a very serious shadow.
