The first Beatle solo album -- as well as the first Apple album -- was a minor eruption of the pent-up energies of George Harrison, who was busy composing this offbeat score to the film Wonderwall as Magical Mystery Tour raced up the charts. With the subcontinental influence now firmly in the driver's seat, the score is mostly given over to the solemn, atmospheric drones of Indian music. Yet, as a whole, it's a fascinating if musically slender mishmash of sounds from East and West, everything casually juxtaposed or superimposed without a care in the world. Harrison himself does not appear as a player or singer; rather, he presides over the groups of Indian and British musicians, with half of the cues recorded in London, the other half in Bombay. The Indian tracks are professionally executed selections cut into film cue-sized bites, sometimes mixed up with a ock beat, never permitted to develop much. Touches of Harrison's whimsical side can be heard in the jaunty, honky tonk, tack piano-dominated "Drilling a Home" and happy-trails lope of "Cowboy Museum," as well as a title like "Wonderwall to Be Here." Occasionally, the overt footsteps of a Beatle can be heard: "Party Secombe" is a medium-tempo ock track that should remind the connoisseur of "Flying"; "Dream Scene" has Indian vocals moving back and forth between the loudspeakers over backwards electronic loops. As this and Harrison's second experimental release, Electronic Sound, undoubtedly proved, pigeonholing this Beatle was a dangerous thing.

Some riffs just stick in your mind. This guitar loop with Eric Clapton contributing is hard to forget once you've heard it.

I don't know if anyone of you guys ever listen to Wonderwall OST (68'psicadelic movie), the music is by George. If so... well I might say that it is the most inovative project of george harrison. I love his albums (don't get me wrong). It's not an ALBUM with the "typical" feel, I hear it has a collection of sounds and moods, wonders... with some delicade and pretty pieces like Red Lady Too.I'm ...

.....Well, pretty damn far. Especialy with WonderWall Music, George Harrison's infuriating first solo release. Its an unfocused mish-mash of colliding iseas, most still-born. But there are a few tracks that do not.........hurt. This may be one of them, & this may also be a track on which G.H. actualy played.......As George Clinton would surely opine.....This has zero% groovitivity! No fu...

......It May be a bit misleading to call this a George Harrison Track as there's no way of knowing what part, if any, George played in this performance. But I find it to be a pleasant little diversion.....atypically jaunty. Jaunty? C'mon! Who says jaunty anymore? But yeah.....I like to put this unlisted in certain mixes & ask people to guess from whence it came. (wait a minute! Whence? ...

Some people may think that George's first solo album was All Things Must Pass. however, if memory serves me well, George did 2 experimental projects prior to that album. This is a track from a disc that was a disappointment to some when it came out, because most of it did not sound like typical Beatles fare or like All Things Must Pass did later and you couldn't sing along.Anyway, some may have...
