The pop star's third wife will receive .76 million in their divorce, topping Heather Mills McCartney's previous record for Britain's Largest Divorce Settlement. Phil's second wife received million in '94 after he broke up with her via fax. Who's ready for another Genesis farewell tour?~~

Phil Collins = Drugged Out Monkey?

Later this week I'm leaving the wonderful oasis of Pittsburgh for Chicago and the non-stop rocking that is Lollapalooza. Because of other commitments in the days preceeded and following the concert I'll be away for nearly a week. Don't fret though, I'm working on a massive post to tide all you over and make the week without me as close as it can be to livable. Until then here is some unapologet...

HHT:Could You Flow 2 This Prog Loop?

Could You Flow? -1 Coming into this week, I had zero Genesis music. I know about the history and some key albums and tunes..but did I need to actually have them in my collection? A blog post elsewhwere convinced me I did and so in typical obsessive fashion I started gobbling up the records. I decided on a chronological approach and I dl'd their first 5 records. This morning I added the albums to...

A Grand Parade

~~If ever there's a band that ultimately disappointed me, it's Genesis. Back in the seventies they led the way, defining and shaping music for the headsters and for many next generation bands. They were perfect with Peter Gabriel at the front and Phil Collins on the drums. The stories they told and put to music - fantasy and adventure tales of worlds and creatures woven together in morality tal...

It's just a shame that's all.

All right. I finally got this new optical driver to work. I ordered a DVD burner and it was broke when I got it. I put the old CD burner back in and it wouldn't work. I got the new one tonight and it works. Hallelujah!!! That was such a X-Mas pain. I ordered some of those Moo.com flickr cards as I was out of my old business cards and I still haven't gotten them. It's been about a month....

The beginning of the end of the beginning - Los Endos

With a start I looked at the date of this song.1976!32 years ago! Before many of you here were born.Me? I was starting a career in IT, living with a bunch of hippies, albeit a dying breed by then, putting this LP on the turntable and shaking the windows with this song. The owner of the house owned a pair of Kef speakers hooked up to some high end piece of equipment that also accommodated the Moo...

In the Beginning

I lost track of Genesis after, I think, the "Then There Were Three" album. I felt that after that they just lost their grit. We now know, of course, that it was Phil Collins' direction into pop land that really sent Genesis almost over the cliff. My favorite album is probably "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway," with all others pre Invisible Touch coming in as close seconds. But in 1996 they gained the ...

Invisible Touch - Genesis

The radio played Invisible Touch on the way home from work. It's been ages since I've heard this song. It's an eighties classic. Invisible Touch reminds of mi hermano Rene. Growing up he was the biggest Genesis fans. One of his favorites was Invisible Touch. He had the cassette that I would always borrow. As I recall, the tape only had eight songs on it, Can you imagine a band today releasing a...

G E N E S I S Here is a song by u.k. band Genesis from an early Live Show in 1973.One of the most successful rock acts of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Genesis enjoyed a longevity exceeded only by the likes of the Rolling Stones and the Kinks, in the process providing a launching pad for the superstardom of members Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. The group had its roots in the Garden Wall, a ba...

Genesis Foxtrot

Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine fron allmusic.com Foxtrot is where Genesis began to pull all of its varied inspirations into a cohesive sound - which doesn't necessarily mean that the album is streamlined, for this is a group that always was grandiose even when they were cohesive, or even when they rocked, which they truly do for the first time here. Indeed, the startling thing about the open...

when you think of the supergroup genesis you think of peter gabriel of peter gabriel fame, phil collins of phil collins fame and mike rutherford of mike and the mechanics fame... so who was that fourth original member? well it was tony banks. ive always thought that it would really suck to be the only member of genesis known as _______ of genesis fame. i guess it would suck just as much to be s...

With my Ripple brethren The Pope's new found love of Robin Trower and other beautiful music that had slipped passed his radar, I thought it might be fun to toss out a couple of other oldies that we may not be thinking about any more, but certainly deserve the Ripple eye of attention.Genesis – Selling England by the PoundIt’s impossible to listen to Peter Gabriel-era Genesis without feeling lik
