G-Unit Biography

Source: Wikipedia

G-Unit is an acronym for Guerilla Unit. G-Unit emerged on the New York scene by independently releasing several mixtapes. The group's founder, Queens-based rapper 50 Cent, officially brought the group mainstream success by establishing it as a division at Interscope Records. Since signing to the label, G-Unit's members have released solo albums.

50 and the crew took Ryan Leslie's "Diamond Girl" song and remixed it for their "Return Of The Body Snatchers" mixtape. The video is another low budget straight-to-internet endeavor for the Unit. I know 50 Cent is pretty much considered the antichrist of hip hop these days, but his new vigor for creating music is great. The first video is the G-Unit version of "Bottom Girl", and below that you'll find Ryan Leslie's "Diamond Girl" that inspired it.

Blog post image preview Not even two full months after 50 Cent and the G-Unit crew released a free mixtape called "Return Of The Bodysnatchers", they're offering another freebie on www.thisis50.com The new mixtape is titled "The Elephant In The Sand", which is a play on the title of Fat Joe's new album (which is also released in retail stores today). 50 Cent wanted to create a distraction by giving away music for free, giving fans an alternative to spending money on Fat Joe's record.

With the wild speculation that Young Buck is on his way out of the door at G-Unit, 50 Cent took time out and addressed the rumors yesterday during a radio interview. Surprisingly, 50 says everything is just a misunderstanding and there is no ill will between him and Buck.
"It looks crazy because he just ain't there, then you come back and see the tape and he ain't there, but it's not what people think it is," 50 told Kay Slay.
So why isn't Young Buck ... MORE

Two new tracks from G-Unit's upcoming album surfaced this weekend, Bottom Girl, and I'm Leavin. On the latter track, 50 Cent takes more shots at Fat Joe. The two seem to have re-ignited their rivalry from 2005.
While 50 and G-Unit has been touring overseas one notably absence has been from Young Buck. He stayed behind in America to focus on launching his Cashville label, which has led many to believe him and 50 Cent are at odds again. The fact that Buck ... MORE

Blog post image preview G-Unit plans to release their second album Shoot To Kill in December after a four year layoff. The group was even permanently disbanded by 50 Cent so each member could focus on their solo efforts, but there has been a change of heart. Yesterday Fitty was quoted as saying, “The G-Unit album Shoot To Kill is coming out December 18th, so cancel Christmas, it’s over,” “It’s a righteous kill”.
The first single "Wanna Lick" is said to be the secon... MORE

Young Buck of G-Unit took time to address fellow member Tony Yayo's alleged assault on a 14 year old kid yesterday, and his words were less than supportive. Buck went on to say he doesnt respect anybody putting their hands on a child, regardless of the circumstances, and if Yayo indeed did do what he was arrested for, that he cant support him. Tony Yayo was charged with assault and endagering the welfare of a child on March 25th. For anyone who pays attention to hip... MORE
