I'm in the middle of this book by Daniel Levitin called "This is your brain on Music". So far it's an elegant examination of the brain's processes in perceiving music. Some of it is pretty technical - a conversation about frequencies of harmonics/overtones and some other sophisticated music theory shouldn't drag the dedicated reader down too much. OK, the header might be misleading or least a little disturbing to Frank Black. So, I’m sitting in a hot tub (part post-surgery therapy, part indulgence) and I don’t want to listen to the new-agey nature sound crapola that is supposed to help me separate mind and body (a bottle of Jack and pack of Camels would do it but they don’t seem to be on the approved list for some reason) and I have an un-listened to copy of Fast Man Raider Man. I’m not a fan of the Pixies. Maybe it’s because I was introduced tothem nearly a decade after their last album was released or maybe,aside from “Where Is My Mind?” and “Gigantic” they just weren’t poppyenough for me.
