Blog post image preview Foxy Brown has the cover story in September's issue of XXL Magazine, and speaks about her long rocky relationship with Jay-Z. Back in 1996 Foxy Brown was the big star, and Jay-Z was her little known sidekick. Twelve years later Jay-Z is one of the most powerful men in music and Foxy's been reduced to a tabloid disaster. She opened up to XXL in a teary eyed interview about the nature of her relationship with Jay-Z. "A lot of things have happened over the years between Jay... MORE

Foxy Brown - Brookyln's Don Diva

Artist:
Album:
Track: Dreams of F***** a D-Boy - (featuring Jay Rush)
Blog post image preview Rating: 4 stars out of 10 The Good: The first 3 or 4 songs are pretty good. The Bad: Tired lyrics, subpar production. The Ugly: Recycled Vocals! Completely unacceptable. Long before anyone heard a single lyric from this album, it was generally assumed that it'd be a train wreck. In the last few years Foxy Brown has worked hard at many things, being a diva, staying in the papers, and getting arrested. What she hasn't been working very hard at is putting out quality music.... After spending 8 months in jail (and 2 months in solitary confinement), Foxy Brown is a free woman. Like all dysfunctional celebs, Foxy is now shooting a VH1 reality show (no joke). The video below contains footage of Foxy and her mother upon her release from Rikers Island Prison. Concrete Loop

They are wasting no time getting this TV show ball rolling. Foxy's only been out of jail a few weeks so I'm sure they've been filming non-step. On the awesomeness scale of reality shows (Bobby Brown's being a 10, and Britney's being a 1), Foxy's looks like a solid 5.

Considering how crazy her life has been in the last two years... this doesn't surprise me in the least. Foxy was so disappointed and displeased with her new album, she's fired her manager and promised a better LP to her fans. She says the album was "compiled without her approval" during her 8 month jail stint.
"I heard this CD in its entirety for the first time just days ago and was devastated," Brown told AllHipHop.com in a statement "Riddled with grief over an album th

Foxy Brown (the Jamaican one)

Artist:
Track:
(32)
born Jennifer Esmerelda Hylton, has rather dropped off the radar in the past ten years, probably not helped by the antics of Inga Marchand. Still, her Tracy Chapman covers produced by Steely & Cleevie back in 1989-90 are still worth digging back out for a listen

Blog post image preview I love Foxy, I always have. Like most Jamaican women and dancehall survivors, she's tuff, she rolls with the punches and spits them back on the microphone. Every once in awhile we hear a softer side of the Brooklyn Don Diva, and judging from an excerpt of "Star Cry" which leaked this week, this is one of those songs. "Star Cry" is part of her upcoming Brooklyn Don Diva which was mostly recorded before her incarceration in Rikers Prison. According to VH1 News:
She raps

Blog post image preview The May 19 issue of Ebony's Jet Magazine features the dangerous curves and rude gal smirk of Foxy Brown.  It's her first magazine spread since she was released from Riker's Island.  Foxy sounds like she's speaking to the parole board when she speaks to the magazine, saying:
“If this didn’t happen and God didn’t intervene,” she told Jet, “my life needed to be saved. Not just Foxy. That’s my character. That’s my work. Inga is a person. People haven’t stopped to say, ‘Is that

Foxy Brown, who has been incarcerated since late August, has requested an early release from prison due to he ear condition. Brown wrote a four page letter to the judge that was filed on Tuesday, as part of an appeal at New York State Supreme Court.
"I ask you to please take into consideration that my health is in jeopardy. Yes, I've made some bad choices and stupid mistakes," she continued in the four-page letter. "But please understand that sitting in a prison with murde... MORE

New Foxy Brown Songs From *Brooklyn Don Diva*

Blog post image preview At the beginning of the month, I reported about a few songs Foxy Brown was working on for Brooklyn Don Diva before getting thrown in the slammer. One was "Mr DJ" featuring a sample from Barrington Levy's "Here I Come (Broader Than Broadway)" song. The other was a collaboration with Mavado, "We're On Fire." She recorded the vocals for this second song before being locked up and basically turned them over to Mavado for him to produce and add vocals to. He added smoo... MORE

Blog post image preview Foxy Brown is fresh out of the hole in Rikers Island Prison, and spoke with Metro about her stay in jail and her new mindset. If I had just spent forty days in solitary confinement, I'd probably want to talk to reporters too.

“I’m a survivor,” Brown said. “It’s been very hard, but I believe God uses circumstances to develop your character. I know coming out of this I’m going to be a much stronger person.”
Much has been made about her stay in solitary, but Foxy doesn... MORE

Blog post image preview Foxy Brown was looking like a true Brooklyn Don Diva for a minute there - pulling strings from inside prison to ensure the completion of her newest album and its release. She recorded her vocals for "We’re On Fire" before entering Rikers Island prison, then Mavado laid down the track with his own vocals while she was adjusting to her new home. The album was due to drop this month, but a press release sent out today announces that it has been pushed to February 5 now. No... MORE

The US prison system is having a hard time rehabilitating Foxy Brown. Even the notorious Rikers Island facility, where Brown has been incarcerated since September, hasn't broken the diva one bit. According to Geoffrey Davis, a friend of Brown's family and an activist who manages an anti-violence nonprofit org in Brooklyn, stated, "If they release her today, she'll be back in a week." Of course, Brown isn't slated to be released until September 2008, unless she learns go... MORE

Blog post image preview In what amounts to just about the ONLY good piece of Foxy Brown news that we've heard in ages, she's been let out of solitary confinement due to good behavior in jail. Foxy was supposed to be locked away for 23 hours a day in "punitive segregation" for two and a half months. Good behavior caused Brown to be released in 40 days. A source says Brown was one of only four women to be released out of the unit early, and received no special treatment.

Foxy initially earne... MORE
