This totally changed my point of view about Final Fantasy!A one-man project conducted by Canadaian violinist/singer-songwriter Owen Pallett, who has been Arcade Fire's tour member. Kinda a shock at the beginning, but totally makes sense later. I wonder why he chose Fantasy to be his solo project name though......Wish you have a good smile after this song! btw, does anyone hear about a compilation or some project called Guilt By Association? Supposed to be indie... MORE
Wow, what an oversight! I tried searching for Final Fantasy in the artists lounge, didn't come up with anything. Neither for Owen Pallett. I was sure I had seen posts before...well anyways, let me now share this with you! Probably better known for his work with The Arcade Fire, but damn good on his own! (from Wiki)Owen Pallett is a violinist and singer from Toronto, and the principal member of the band Final Fantasy which is essentially a solo project, althoug... MORE
This song is wonderfully composed with really gripping keys. The chorus of what sound to be children singing a verse near the end of the song is breath taking. This is Owen Pallett at his best!
Actually, I mean the term "Mog" in popular culture. For me, it first comes up in Spaceballs (The Movie). John Candy's character, Barf, explains that he's "a mog. You can see where I'm going with this...right? OK, neither can I. But it doesn't matter...Arcade Fire member Owen Pallet happened... MORE
Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy) taken from http://www.zoilus.com/documents/news/ This was really quite a great concert tonight, I didn't know what to expect going in to it, as I'm not too too familiar with Pallett's work under this moniker, though I've certainly heard a lot on the radio. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was just him, his violin, a keyboard, and a shitload of effects pedals! He built up his little chamber-pop gems all on his own, efficiently layering ... MORE
Friday 8.11.06, Bottom of the Hill:Final FantasyBob WisemanCurtains This was a grouping of music that can only be described as quirky. The Curtains, featuring Chris from Deerhoof and Nedelle, got things going with sweet and off-kilter pop. I was just pleased whenever Nedelle was singing. Bob Wiseman was up next, a one-man dynamo with acoustic guitar, accordian, and self-deprecating wit. He hung a sheet on one side of the stage and projected his own films onto it, nar... MORE
