I just joined MOG so i'm not sure what I'm doing yet. Without further ado, I have to recommend a band called Film School. I saw them live in Silverlake, CA several weeks ago, bought the album. I love it. In the spirit of classic shoegaze. My Bloody Valentine fans should dig it.

Film School is another of a bevy of noisy pop bands from the Los Angeles area, that have been emboldened by the success of Silversun Pickups. Their music is strongly reminiscent of Ride or Disintegration-era Cure, with walls of reverbed guitars lying atop a beefy rhythmic foundation. With so much amazing music out there to blog about I figured I'd post about a recent discovery this time instead of an old favorite.Film School are apparently from San Francisco, but I still haven't had opportunity to see them.The album merges the recent return to the angsty post-punk sound so popular these days with subtle shoegazer elements in the guitar work as well.
