I expect to be on my feet a lot in New Orleans next weekend during my annual early-Carnival weekend visit. Trekking through the French Quarter and the Marigny; strolling by the mighty Mississippi; scampering alongside parades; dancing in clubs and all-night parties; and doing a joyful second-line strut wherever I happen to be standing at any given moment. A song I remember my dad singing a lot, has such an upbeat sound to it. I love it.

Well, good morning world. So to start my Sunday Mornings Under the Covers, I give you my favorite version of this oft-covered song. Fats Domino gives this song such a nice, gently funky groove, I find it irresistable. I believe though that Christmas Music in general should be restricted to Christmas Week.

Fats Domino's gold records, will have his sales awards replaced during a ceremony next week, according to LiveDaily. As previously reported, even after having to be rescued via boat and reportedly losing everything, Fats drew testament to the old saying you can't keep a good man down. You know you've made a mark on the world when artists regarded as all time greats flock to re-record your songs in tribute. A double disc entitled "Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino" is coming our way Sept. 25 via Vanguard Records. Today's Black History Month artist is the great Fats Domino. This song seemed appropo considering Mondays are usually blue for me. Saw what was the birthplace of jazz in Spike Lee's 4-hour "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts" on HBO last night. It was educational, raw, soul-searching and compassion-inducing. Should be required viewing for Americans in this post-K world. I cried into my Pinot Grigio and witnessed the vast, blinding force of hope.
