VH1 Classic keeps playing terrible Europe videos and I just can't turn em off. I've gotten at least 3 in the past week. I posted this many moons ago as a comment but I think it deserves a post of its own....don't you?

Of the many Swedish bands I like, Europe would have to be my favourite. Ok, so a lot of their early stuff is a bit naff, but a band that can successfully reinvent themselves for a new generation of fans without any outside help at all commands my respect.
With original guitarist John Norum back on board, 2004's Start from the Dark was a lot rockier (and less keyboardy!) than their early body of work and paved the way for 2006 - Secret Society.

Reading through some older posts on the MOGOS I stumbled on Terry Staunton's request for our favorite sports related songs. So, this is crazy ass shit. I was on Pandora last night. Created a station, started listening and then this aggrorock tune comes on. And it's catchy and has a great hook and it really moves. And I'm doing something else but I HAVE to find out who the crap this is. And it's freaking Europe. "The Final Countdown" Europe. This pleases me a lot.Freaking Europe. Well, I got my hands on an advance copy of Europes new album Secret Society. To be honest I can't recall what their old music sounded like despite growing up during the 80s. So... this new album reminds me a bit of Bon Jovi as well as a lot of other hard rock bands. I'm currently listening to the song "Wish I Could Believe" over and over again. Not saying it's the best song on the album but it was the first one that really caught my attention. I wish I could write more rig... MORE

I need to stop listening to horrible songs such as this one. I think part of the appeal is that I never actually had to live through the time period in which this was cool and cutting edge. It reminds me of Gob (both my favorite Bluth and favorite illusionist) waving playing cards about and grinning maniacally whilst holding a knife between his teeth before his magic show. LOVE IT.
