I love any day that includes a new video from Estelle. But a day with a new video from Estelle and Cee-Lo is a GREAT day indeed! And that's what today is - a great day, featuring the new vid for "Pretty Please" off Estelle's fabulous album, Shine. (If any ads pop up at the beginning, I apologize. Estelle seems like she's always been on the pulse of what's hot in UK music. Her debut album, The 18th Day (released in 2004), was simple, old-skool hip hop. How fast did tickets sell out for Estelle's show in SF? Seriously. I found out about the SF show 2 weeks ago, but tix were already sold out. Estelle performs at The Independent tomorrow night, but, alas... I won't be there, nor my camera. Did you score tickets in time? Who's going? I know that this song has probably been discussed a million times here on MOG. And, I know i'm probably appealing to a different crowd than what I would normally write about, but I am madly in love. Estelle's american boy is perhaps one of the most epic songs of 2008, (or 2007 ... it just runs on and on!) But this song can never get old!! UK singer/rapper, Estelle, is the first artist to be signed to John Legend's new Homeschool imprint which will release her sophomore album Shine in February 2008. Meanwhile, she's lined up tours with Amy Winehouse and Kanye West (probably Amy in the UK and Kanye in the US) and the first single from Shine, "Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)" will be released on November 19th. American Boy is the second single off of Estelle’s upcoming album Shine, which is slated for a May 6th release on John Legend’s ‘Homeschool Records’. This song has a huge retro feel, it's really interesting.

Remember a while back when I asked about your favorite magazines? I was planning an offline trip and knew I'd need my music fix without having access to MOG. So, "American Boy" was terribly infectious and so undeniable as a quintessential summer song, but "Pretty Please", Estelle's obvious homage to all things "Dreamgirls", Diana Ross, The Shirelles and neo-soul (that fledgling movement circa the end of the 90s/early Y2K...

Yesterday when I reported that Estelle would perform on David Letterman's show, it hadn't occurred to me that this would be her first network tv appearance. She's so smooth and confident, you would never know it, just watch:
