TIME WELL SPENT

At the beginning of this year I decided I would teach myself to play a new instrument. Anyone will tell you that doing so invovlves a commited desire to burn away hours on end in boring repetitive practice. But in the end it pays off. The great pleasure derived from having mastered a goal makes it all worthwhile. So today I can say I am now a qualified air-guitar player. Don't laugh, those rock...

ONE MORE BEFORE FOOTBALL.

That Clapton is a guitar god is pretty much accepted on every planet. Less appreciated I think, is his remarkable ability as a singer. Note I did not say vocalist, I said singer. Though it hasn't happened too often in his career, he has on occasion reached deep into a song to find his own turtured voice. Ironically Its usually a cover tune.So....The verdict?

Slowhand sings!

What can I add to the canon of Clapton inspired posts? Not much, really. His guitar playing is hailed far and wide and has been for years. There's nothing I can say about that that hasn't been said, infinitely better. many times right here in the MOGOS. But this one is Eric singing, sure he plays some low key guitar, but its his vocals that star here. This is one great performance.

Anybody else catch this review by Stephen King of "Clapton"?"Most A.A. meetings begin with the chairman offering his qualifications at the head table next to the coffee maker. This qualification is more commonly known in the program as the drunkalogue. It’s a good word, with its suggestions of inebriated travel, and it certainly fits Eric Clapton’s account of his life. “Clapton” is nothing
