This two-CD set compiles three of Ennio Morricone's essential western soundtracks -- A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and Once Upon a Time in the West. While it's certainly good to have these soundtracks together in one place, the mastering seems to be somewhat slipshod -- the two earlier scores are marred somewhat by distortion, and the noise level on the second disc suggests that noise reduction was hardly a priority. At a guess, the discs were mastered from second or third generation reproduction tapes -- compare the excerpts on Rhino's A Fistful of Film Music for an example.
