All Music GuideThis CD is a reissue of a generous 52˝ minute LP originally put out on the Japanese Trio label and unfortunately it does not have any liner notes. Solo identification would have been particularly helpful for both Frank Foster and Pat LaBarbera play their tenors in similar John Coltrane-influenced styles during three lengthy tracks: "E.J. Blues," "House That Love Built" and the two part "A Love Supreme." The music is a direct outgrowth of drummer Elvin Jones' days with Coltrane. Bassist Andy McCloud is steady and supportive throughout while guitarist Roland Prince supplies a chordal base for the tenors. The musicians stretch themselves within the boundaries of Coltrane's music.
