English band Electrelane was asked to support Arcade Fire on a limited stretch of their American tour. The ladies from Brighton announced recently their plans to release their 6th album, ??No Shouts, No Calls?? on April 30. With this development and all the buzz around Arcade Fire, it's nearly certain this will hone in more attention that they originally planned with their North American tour. ...

*Lucky me. I caught "Electrelane":http://www.electrelane.com last night which was also my first all female line-up in a long time.* Seeing how there are "quite a few fans":http://mog.com/music/Electrelane here on mog and the recent announcement that the band would be on __indefinite hiatus__ after this tour, I wanted to share the experience.*The Venue*Normally the renovated factory, "Le Transbo...

i got some bad news. i just heard that electrelane, one of my favorite bands is about to take an indefinite hiatus."we have decided that the upcoming gigs will be our last for the foreseeable future" says their myspace page, so if you live in europe, please, see them for me.it hurts when beloved bands break. can't they just stay together? maybe if i stomp strong and clap like a fool they'll ...
right now my ipod has a sprain. it was given by electrelane. love love love their latest album. and thanks to a suggested piece of info from the all knowing "soulrocket":http://mog.com/soulrocket i found some b-sides too!ever listen to a song and it gives you the goose bumps?so i saw herbie hancock at the free jazz fest several weekends ago, here's a shot of that. he was amazing, a living l...
Recently Electrelane announce they are on "Indefinite Hiatus". One needs to look at My Bloody Valentine or Portishead to see that it could be a long while before we hear something new from them. It's a limbo that no fan of any band wants to hear - especially one that never got to see that perform live. The Brighton based female four-piece could best be described as ethereal shoegazing pop. This i...
The new Electrelane single "To The East" is quite good, tinny, tinkering, ragged and fun. Led by high pitched female coos, it's pop with an edgy backbeat. I like it. Check it "out":http://www.myspace.com/electrelane. The UK quartet's new album, No Shouts, No Calls will be out on the Matador imprint Too Pure May 8.
With mere hours to go before the sand runs out of that biggest hour glass of them all - *2007* - I have looked back over the past twelve months to appraise which artists or songs or releases or CDs or songs meant the most to me. And frankly I don't think I listened to anything at all released in 2007.However I was just listening to WFMU, and was thoroughly charmed by this tune by the fou...
This is a wistful, melancholy song from these all-girl rock/pop group from... where? I think they're English? I don't know. Regardless, they are good and this is probably their best album so far. Big variety in the songs, from lovely songs like this to longer instrumental electro-rock jams. It didn't really stick out for me when I first listened to it, but I came back to it a couple of weeks ag...
I love everything about this track. The sensual groove and bass, the choir... the harmonies and melody... I can listen to this on my iPod on the bus, shut my eyes and be somewhere completely different in my imagination.I'm Electrelaning up as am going to see them at Koko in a couple weeks. Yay to me for having foresight to book tickets during a recent bout of poverty and depression, as underst...
This is a great instrumental band...amazing live. The fact that electrelane is an all female ensemble is a plus. If you've never heard of them, I suggest you listen to them now. The power out is a great album. Best played loud.
Perhaps this track will better illustrate what I consider jamming.Electrelane, "Today"Brighton, England quartet Electrelane (who unfortunately are on one of those cursed "indefinite hiatuses") were one of my favorite bands of this decade. The instrumental "Today" (from their excellent Singles, B-Sides & Live compilation) features a seemingly agreed-upon structure, but veers off into unexpected,...
