..Face of a brickie. Can't remember who said that about Guy Garvey, but I can claim to agree with only one half of it. That's one way to describe the Elbow frontman, but if you don't look further than that then you're missing the point my friend. As a lyricist he has a powerfully understated command of intricacy and beauty. Elbow are one of those bands absolutely capable of dominating, so why have they never done it? This sort of shit keeps me awake at night!
