Last thursday, I had the privilege of seeing Lykke Li at Bowery Ballroom, along with another Swedish dove, Sarah Assbring's El Perro Del Mar (dog of the sea in Spanish). The crowd was quaking with industry folk and just about every blog and music mag editor was in the house- intent to see if she lived up to her hype.Indeed Lykke Li did. (FYI that's her first name; her full name is Li Lykke Timot...

A contingent of conquering Swedes – actually, three extremely talented female singer-songwriters - came to San Francisco on Sunday night, and took over Bimbo’s 365 Club, the long-lived nightspot in the historic North Beach district. And boy, was I glad I was there to succumb, along with the rest of an enthusiastic audience. My original motivation to attend was a chance to see baby-voiced dance-

Delicate. That's the best way to describe "From the Valley to the Stars" by El Perro Del Mar…it's soft, warm and delicate. Each song seems to dance on the lightest breeze, kept aloft by one of the most fragile voices in music. This album is like a lullaby. I don't know what it is with Swedish [...]

"This":http://www.myspace.com/elperrodelmar is the perfect rainy day music. And no, not because it's dreary and depressing. Rainy days don't want depressing music, trust me, I'm from Oregon. Rainy days are depressing enough in themselves. Rainy days want something that fits the atmosphere, yet gently lifts you up in spite of it. Not too sad, not too happy, just nice, pretty, full, warm and hazy...

I don't post much video here, so instead of a Saturday Track, let's do a video instead.I saw this video one night on MTV2's Subterranean and I liked the song. The video's animation reminds me of something but I can't think of it. Well, Happy Saturday!El Perro Del Mar - God knowsUploaded by spleendid

Check out this new live footage of El Perro Del Mar covering Lou Reed's "Heavenly Arms," off of El Perro Del Mar's new album Love Is Not Pop. Here's what she had to say about the song: "For some coincidental reason Lou Reed worked as some kind of muse for ...

Swedish indie pop sensation El Perro Del Mar’s new album Love Is Not Pop, which was released in the US by The Control Group on October 20th, has gotten a pretty positive response from the music critic community (Redefine gave it A-). And for good reason, Love Is Not Pop proved she can be consistent [...]

In the beginning, I read _Nerve_ for the true-life, galvanic contributions of Lisa Crystal Carver, probably best known as zine editor of both _Dirt_ and _Rollerderby_. Carver's ripostes were meat-rich, heartful and intelligent, whether she was mooning over the entries for her "Date With Lisa" contest, with her boyfriend sitting next to her, or considering the effects of a manipulative, womaniz...

in full-on procrastination mode... quite frankly i should be doing my own drawings right now, but have been wanting to share these for a while now... here are a few animated videos for some nice tunes in three very different genres. they all seem to be done with the use of traditional, hand-drawn animation techniques, as well.el perro del mar's god knows:chad vangaalen's flower gardens:Also a s...

I have been feeling really good lately, so I thought I'd share the current soundtrack to my good vibrations...El Perro Del Mar's "God Knows" has been stuck in my head for a week now, thankfully. It's as if Betty Boop fronted the Beach Boys, and they decided to sing me a personal lullaby...I recently got the Teddy Bears album. I guess the Cadillac commercials just weren't enough and that video...
