No matter how crappy of a mood I'm in, as soon as I hear the first notes of this song, I can actually feel myself feeling good. One of my favorite songs, sung by one of my favorite bands.

I tend to think about how my relationship with Rachael started when I hear this one. I did not get my driver’s license until my mid to late twenties. There are a few reasons for why I waited, but that’s a story for another day. I met Rach when I was 21, and I was relying on public transportation and rides from friends to get from point A to point B. It sucked.
My job was on the other side of town, and the city’s bus s... MORE

It's not immediately obvious how to approach Eels' latest collections. And the last word of that opening sentence gives a clue as to why this might be. Meet the Eels presents - in chronological order - the 'best of' the band's output over the past decade or so. A reasonably conventional 'greatest hits'-type affair. Released simultaneously - although not necessarily bundled with Meet the Eels - is a sprawling compilation of 50 B-sides, remixes, demos, live recordings and su... MORE

This is one of the 45 or so 'new' that appears on the new Eels b-sides and rarities collection, 'Useless Trinkets' It was a gorgeous 'winter' day here in LA...the kind that makes me wish I owned a convertible so I could drive around all day listening to Missy Elliot covers at an obnoxiously loud volume...good times, good times.... The Eels are getting their Amen and Mavel Tov on. The band will be stopping at some unusual venues, like the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia and the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC, when they tour the US this March and April.
The tour is in support of the band's two new CD+DVD collections. The decade-spanning "best of" compilation Meet The Eels: Essential Eels 1996-2006 Vol. 1 includes a DVD worth of music videos and live footage. The raritie... MORE

Everett (second from right) with Niels Bohr (center)
The only known recordings of a brilliant physicist who predicted the existence of parallel universes have been found in the basement of his rock star son's flat. The tapes document how Hugh Everett, a quantum physicist, developed his idea at the age of 24, while a graduate student at Princeton University in 1957. Everett's theory gave rise to the concept of a multitude of universes, or a "m... MORE

Of all the posters I've done, (and since I'm such a big fan of this band) I'd say I'm most proud of this one...

Eels is pretty much the vehicle for one, Mark Oliver Everett (otherwise known as "E")... He's led a tragic and amazing life... His father was the world famous quantum physicist, Hugh Everett... at 19 years of age, Mark found his father dead... In 1996 his sister, Elizabeth, (who first got him interested in music by playing him Neil Young's "After The ... MORE

MORE

You know something that has annoyed me recently. I saw someone on here mention a site run by ebay called half.com..esentially cheap cds...now who doesn't like that....anyway....because I am from the UK I cannot use it, and man it would come in handy. I shall explain why... Just over 10 years ago, I loved the Eels and I thought Beautiful Freak was such a great album...I still do to be honest.
Then Electro-Shock Blues came out, and although it took me a little longer to... MORE
