AMG Review of No One Ever Tells You
Scott Yanow
All Music GuideAn excellent singer who swings and is at her best when interpreting superior lyrics (she does not improvise much), Eden Atwood's recording debut is quite impressive. Featured in a variety of settings ranging from duets with pianist Laurence Hobgood and Eldee Young to a nonet arranged by Jim Martin, Atwood excels on each of the 11 songs. Highpoints include "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby," "Ballad of the Sad Young Men" and her own "Nothing's Changed."
