..I just did the above poster for tonight's show at The Independent in San Francisco... Earlimart and West Indian Girl... a cool double-headliner bill at a great venue.....I thought I'd lay the cool opener from Earlimart's latest on you... I dig this tune... I guess it's possible to pick almost any tune off this latest CD by Earlimart entitled Mentor Tormentor. I honestly think this could be one of the best CD's so far this year. It's not getting that kind of notoriety yet that I have seen. But it is really good stuff. Beautiful writing, the harmonies are lush and mostly quiet, some symphonic overlays that add to the texture. The last time Earlimart came through town, they played at one of my favorite local dive bars ... and I didn't know it until two days later. Instead of catching a band that is rumored to put on a great live show, I was at home doing bank statements that night, bored and pitifully unaware. Attention Seattle-area moggers ... just got word that Earlimart will be playing a live, FREE, in-store show at Easy Street Records (20 Mercer St.) on 8/24 at 7pm.
