Most of the Dukes of Dixieland's many Audiofidelity LPs find the group playing songs that fit a certain concept or theme. In this case (their eighth of 12 volumes for the label), the Dukes perform a dozen songs associated with colleges, including "Roll On Tulane," "Fight On, Ohio," "The Whiffenpoof Song," "Varsity Drag" and "Buckle Down, Winsocki." Some of the tunes are stronger than others, and the concept runs a bit thin in spots, but the band (a very consistent outfit) plays quite well, as usual. Trumpeter Frank Assunto, trombonist Fred Assunto, clarinetist Jack Maheu and pianist Stanley Mendelson are the main soloists.
