AMG Review of The Dukes at Carnegie Hall, Vol. 10

All Music GuidePart of Audio Fidelity's extensive series of Dukes of Dixieland recordings, this LP has their only live recording from the period. The Dukes (which at the time included leader/trumpeter Frank Assunto, trombonist Fred Assunto and clarinetist Eugene Bolen) sound a little restrained during the concert, perhaps a bit nervous at the thought of playing at Carnegie Hall. Best among the performances are "Royal Garden Blues," "Muskrat Ramble" and "Mack the Knife," but this was one of their lesser efforts.
