All Music GuideThe 13th and final Dukes of Dixieland Audio Fidelity recording (two of the LPs were not included in the numerical series) finds the group emphasizing the piano playing of Stanley Mendelson a bit more than usual. With fine solos contributed by trumpeter Frank Assunto, trombonist Fred Assunto and the underrated clarinetist Jerry Fuller, the Dukes perform some rags (including, inevitably, "Maple Leaf Rag") and early Dixieland standards including "Twelfth Street Rag," Jelly Roll Morton's "Grandpa's Spells," "Tiger Rag" and "Wolverine Blues." As usual with the original Dukes, the musicianship is excellent and the spirit is infectious.
