The Tinker and the Crab

On the seas pasture
Scratching his beard
Stand and stare
The tinker and the crab

Over the dunes came a traveling man

Driftwood lying drying

Out from the sea came a little green crab

Sack on back wild flowers in his hand
With weather fair
Pondering and wandering along
Flying higher

Taking the sun the morning being very drab

Nice as you please comes the traveling man
The tinker and the crab
White horses riding
Old rusty cans, pebbles 'bedded in the sand
Drinking a bottle of milk in his hand
Now the gulls are crying
Yellow beak and sleek

Speaking to no one in particular but happily
For the fire
Down where young gulls dance
His sandy shoe
Onto the sand

Through the grass he steered
Disappearing in the dips
Stand and stare
Old rusty cans, pebbles 'bedded in the sand
