All Music GuideSuch was the state of Don Gibson's career in the mid-'60s that his then-current label, RCA Victor, was reaching back to his recordings from the end of the 1950s to get as many albums out on him as possible. And Columbia Records and MGM, to which he'd been signed in the early to mid-'50s, were doing the same -- that's how this album, a reconfigured ten-song version of Songs by Don Gibson, issued on the Lion Records label in 1958, came to show up in 1965. "Ah-Ha" and "I Believed in You," from the original LP, have been removed here, but otherwise it was a fair representation of the start of his work as a songwriter, if not as sophisticated and polished as his later RCA work.
