Math Rockers rejoice: masters of intricate music Don Caballero are hitting the road in Europe this month to support their most recent album, 2008's Punkgasm. The Pittsburgh-based trio has developed quite the following over the last 17 years, presumably for their innovation and complexity. While their lineup has changed rapidly over the years, drummer and founding member Damon Che is still at th...
This is the same sort of genre defying shit we get from Trans Am, Oneida, Hella, and other highly technically proficient, (primarily or utterly as the case may be) instrumental rock groups. I felt floored the same way as I felt the first time I listened to Spiderland or The Red Line while listening to this. This album has the added benefit of being a fairly austere affair, with the guitar-bas...
Thanks MOG! After you guys steered me to Lightning Bolt, I got to checking out more new noise rock. Don Caballero rocks me! It's noisy and craz-ee! Whee!

There's a lot of noise amongst listeners who give a hoot whether or not this latest lineup merits the Don Caballero name, which just amounts to splitting hairs. What I want to know is what happened to the drummer from the donor band? What's that guy doing now that he's been left with an empty practice space and a lot of free time?Anyways, the song I tagged is worth a listen - at least the first...
