In 2004, Diana Krall broke out of the babe-playing-standards routine and recorded an album of modern standards. Of course, Tom was on the list. The regret in this song is not particularly regretful. It's the quickly-discarded regret of, um. lust. The kind you regret in the morning . . . maybe. This version is absolutely flawless.I know that she is made of smoke, but I've lost my way.She knows th...
A close friend of mine has, for years, created a jazz program for his friends and acquaintances who love jazz and the big bands. Calling his show "Jazz Buddies," this is an outgrowth from his enjoyable local radio series "Jazz Buddies," which ran in the 1980's. The music ranges from solo performers to big bands of the past and present. My friend, who was in radio for thirty years, writes his ow...
Just got back from seeing "Public Enemies". It was....... O.K. Kinda dragged in a couple spots. Loved the soundtrack though. Lots of great Jazz vocals, including a scene with Diana singing on stage at a club. All done up in period attire (1930'3), looking sweet as ever. She sang "Bye, Bye, Blackbird", which had a special meaning in the film. Nothing wrong with Depp's perfomance, just poor came...
I like jazz live albums because they go off on more tangents then rock live albums, except for the grateful dead, but then again they are the exception to every rule

The copy is written by an iTunes staffer-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Don't let the fading days of summer get you down. Diana Krall's From This Moment On makes way for the autumn months with a concise collection of tunes that are ripe with love, hope, and Kr...
Diane Krall is not the most original of artists. For the most part she doesn't write her own songs. Her style is a throwback to an earlier generation. One of her numbers could be slipped into the soundtrack of an old Bogart movie and fit right in. But she does what she does very, very well.
So, I have this one song by Diana Krall floating around on my itunes, which I absolutely love. It's 'Peel me a Grape.' Other than tht one song though, I don't know anything about her. I'm intrigued by her jazzy voice, and want to hear more from her. Does anyboy have any suggestions on what I should listen to from her next?
