Northern Greece just got its internet back. Half a day without it and my hands are trembling, can you spell withdrawal symptoms? Brrrr.Anyway. Goodbye - the spice girls I always forget that I live 5 minutes from one of the east coasts best nature preserves and 25 mile long strand of some of Americas most beautiful beach front. The Broken Frame album is kind of a mixed bag. This song here for instance, even at the age of 14 I wasn't sure if I found it silly or not. Now I'm older and wiser and I simply went and decided that it is a perfectly o.k. song. Some trivial things need to be said, too. I have a live version of this on vinyl, too... on this weird little series of 12-inches with a 45 and a 33 side. Who would have thought that a band that had just lost its songwriter, key instrumentalist, and leader would have been able to continue without so much as an electronic blip? Most of the press thought that Depeche Mode were a dead duck without the influence of mentor in Chief Vince Clarke, who bizarrely decided to quit following the success of 1981’s "Speak And Spell" and form a duet with Soul singer Alison Moyet in the short lived but highly regarded Yazoo.
