Tafari Makonnen (1892-1975) was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia in 1930 and became known as Haile Selassie I. The Rastafarian movement, which emerged in Jamaica in the 1930’s regarded Haile Selaissie as a redeemer of black people. There are estimated to be over 1 million Rastafarians worldwide. The birthday of Haile Selassie is one of the holiest day of the Rastafarian year and is celebrated with drumming, hymns and prayer

This is from a great album. Wish I had a way to digitise the accompanying 12 inch of this track, which was the bomb.
to rectify his almost total absence from MOG is difficult, even if you restrict your choice to (say) Niney the Observer or Joe Gibbs; between 1974 and 1980 he just made so many great records - "Wolf and Leopards", "Westbound Train", "Cassandra", "How Can I Leave", "Stay at Home", "Conqueror", "Blood City", "Sitting and Watching", "Whip Them Jah" and dozens more. I've finally gone for an extended mix of "Have No Fear", produced by Niney the Observer in 1975-76
here is a scorching but largely forgotten 12" 45 released on Earl "Chinna" Smith's High Times label, round about 1981 - one of Dennis' best singles, IMHO. Waaaay back in March 1979, Chinna played guitar in Dennis' touring band when they played Edinburgh, and so it came to pass that, at about 3 o'clock the next morning, in an hotel room, a three part harmony version of Keith Hudson's "Satan Side" was performed by Dennis, Chinna, and, errr.....me
So...what can i say? a classic; dennis brown was so big.. this song is probably the one i used to listen most, from all his songs
This is a great song for a beautiful Sunday morning in spring (the first one of the year here in Rhode Island).
It's a bit late for a Saturday, but this Dennis Brown classic is more suited to a Sunday morning, anyway. Chungking Express is my all-time favorite movie, and I can't really separate the song from the film (the same goes for "California Dreamin'" - - I always see Faye Wong jamming out with the salad tongs). When the horns open up in the intro, I see the CDs shining in the jukebox cabinet--in fact, I'm going to watch that movie tonight. Later.
