From a very young age, it was apparent that Delroy Wilson was a special talent. His ability to translate the styles of U.S. soul singers like Bill Withers into a Jamaican context helped usher in the ocksteady and (at times, anyway) lovers rock scenes. And if that weren't enough, his youthful good looks helped propel him to a level of stardom almost unparalleled at the time. Fans of the more soulful side of ocksteady (Slim Smith, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe) should find this LP very rewarding, as Good All Over includes some of the best material of the genre. "Can't Stand It," "Don't Know," "I'm Not a King," and especially "Once Upon a Time" are all killers thanks to both Wilson's flawless delivery and some rock-solid rhythms (many of which are still in use to this day). This is an LP of exceptional quality from both an instrumental and vocal standpoint. Highly recommended.
