All Music GuideThe core of this 14-song LP (since reissued on a two-fer imported CD) is the 11 songs that came out of Del Shannon's 1967 collaboration with Andrew "Loog" Oldham. These are full-blown Phil Spector-style wall-of-sound productions, with very dense and elaborate arrangements of orchestra and chorus, with Shannon's voice at the center. "Runaway '67" is the best of those songs, and the rest is okay, but the best part of this album is the title track, a Dave Edmunds-produced classic with an overpowering haunt count and gorgeous acoustic guitars.
