IMHO, the best song of 1997 is streamed below: Del Amitri's "Not Where It's At". This has everything that appeals to me: crunchy melodic guitar, a fantastic lead vocal, smart lyrics, nice harmonies and a great melody with hooks to die for. This is a song that should have been all over the radio but was probably just too good to get the airplay. It is a plaintive love song without the plaintive tone. Lyrics are sweetly evocative. Once again,,,,the shuffle mode humbles me! I can not deny that I love this song...or that I have seen the entire run of Dawson's Creek...I am not proud of this, but I can't NOT acknowledge it. This song came up on the shuffle mode tonight...and it was like an audio guilt trip...really.
