When I posted the new video for Death Cab's "I Will Possess Your Heart" last week, I had no idea the amount of work that went into making it. I admit, I hardly watched it (I'm not much of a fan, but I know die-hard DCab fans here who are interested). I found out the video was filmed over 3 weeks, in 10 different cities, with no permits! Billboard published an extensive article today, which DCFC fans must read in full. Here are the 2 parts that grabbed me:

This song is tremendous. I'm sure plenty of people will bitch about the length of the intro, maybe they aren't wrong, but I enjoy it nonetheless. The lyrics make Ben Gibbard sound like a fucking creepster. "I will possess your heart. You reject my advances and desperate pleas. I won't let you let me down so easily." I am absolutely excited about this new album.
It runs 8:36 and I hear there is no radio edit. I like that.

"I Will Possess Your Heart," the first single off Death Cab's yet to be released album, Narrow Stairs, was just released yesterday on iTunes and the Atlantic Records store. It's unlike any other Death Cab song I've heard. The song is long at 8 minutes and 35 seconds, the instrumental is repetitive, and Gibbard's voice is edgier than I'm used to, but I didn't want to stop listening. hurrah! song's amazing, it's made me even more excited for the new album. i'm so glad they've taken a new direction, it's such a deviation from their well-loved formula. much more experimental, i really admire them for that.
