Tim Burton's cult stop-motion film turns 15 this year, and as previously reported a motley crew of indie and goth-pop acts have recorded covers for an updated soundtrack called Nightmare Revisited . It's fun to hear Polyphonic Spree and Album Leaf interpret Danny Elfman, even if you risk hearing Korn's contribution, too (always with the terrible covers , those guys). Check out our faves after t...
but I never take time off killing. I killed Danielle (http://mog.com/deg5000/blog_post/173483) for fun.I killed Mimi (http://mog.com/Hello_Mimi/blog_post/175134) to avenge my sister Lizzieness' death. My third victim I will kill just 'cause I fell off the bed last night (true story, there is a first time for everything) and I'm irritated.I sleep with one eye open. So should you, oh third one.
4:37 mins. There's something cool and engaging about the sounds Denver,Colorado's DeVotchKa make by taking such non-Western musical styles as Mariachi, Slavi, Romani, Greek, and Bolero and blending them with punk, rock and folk. I'm not even able to put my finger on exactly what makes them so enjoyable to me. Could it be the catchy pop-song structures? Or is it the English-language lyrics that ...
The website of Les Ardentes says it provides the 'cream of DJs.' If the heat on the dance floor at 3 am is any indication, it ain't lying. Les Ardentes is an electronic music festival held in Liege, Belgium- near the Dutch border. Unlike Glastonbury or Roskilde, most of you probably haven't heard of Liege- just as most people in Liege haven't heard of Les Ardentes. This doesn't mean Les Ardente...

""DeVotchKa":http://devotchka.net is a four piece multi-instrumental and vocal ensemble that fuses Romani, Greek, Slavic, Bolero, and Mariachi music with American punk and folk roots. Denver quartet DeVotchKa have signed with the independent label Anti-, home of such notables as Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Neko Case. Good Vs. Evil. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. Beauty And The Beast. Any and all of these concepts seem quite fitting when hearing that DeVotchka was the band chosen to have its song "How It Ends" featured in the new Gears Of War 2 commercial for XBox 360. The commercial premiered last month during the Sunday Night football game between the New England Patriots & the Indianapolis Colts & will ...
It is said that when an individual experiences a new flavour generally it taste like chicken (yes, I'm aware that this miracle *only* happens with meat – especially those with lower levels of glutamates).(Well, let's not ruin my thing – CD's and vinyl's would definitely rock if they tasted like chicken, instead of all that plastic and acetate.) Psychologically music can leave a good or a bad t
I don't need the moneyI couldn't care'Cause everything I want is standing right hereI would live on the streetIn a cardboard shackJust the worship the feetAnd the curve of your backYou'll be my only preoccupationOn a permanent vacationNow I will move these rocksFor you my loveI will tear them up out of the EarthAnd I will bend my spine'Til it's quitting time'Cause I know what your love is worth...
so i kept trying to figure out the lyrics to my new fave song stuck on hi-play on my ipod. Having no luck, and tired of tuneless yammering along with it (which startled my office-mate), I googled it:You're the Queen of all the surface streetsI'm a wiener boy, that you're here to meetThat's one of the lines??? Come on, such a pretty song and he's calling himself a wiener boy? http://www.songm...
Time to sneak a good cover in before the day is through.I love this version! I was so fortunate to see DeVotchKa play at Bumbershoot this year. I loved this song when they played it live, but had no idea really what it was (or that it was a cover of a Velvet Underground song). The show was really marvelous - after a long day hanging out at the same stage (much of the day spent with Amber, I mi...
I really love this band. As I just listened to this song, I realized it encompasses an awful lot of what I love about music. A violin, an Eastern European flair, and that guitar sound! I'm not sure what you call it, but I like it! And it's happy and uplifting to me.You may know them as the band that did much of the soundtrack for Little Miss Sunshine.
