David Gray...remember him? The British Dave Matthews? Yuppies went crazy over his 1998 album White Ladder that included the couples-anthem "Babylon." But these days his music is reportedly making terrorist detainees in Iraq and on US military bases go nuts. US interrogators have reportedly been using "Babylon," which hit Number Eight on the US Adult Top 40 chart, as a form of torture.

Sometimes we experience a certain moment when everything just fall right in to place. We feel more than just satisfaction for all of our pain and fears suddenly disappear... even if it means for just a second. Today is a dark grey, rainy morning. And when I look outside my window, there is a big, massive wall blocking every potential beauty I could see outside from within these four walls. The weather is just so gloomy. Suddenly, I found myself listening to a very beau... MORE
I like this song for its beautiful simplicity. His live versions aren't as good because he gets all crazy and energetic. But here he keeps it foreboding and a little spooky.
"Slow, seething, piano-driven, album-ending song" hat trick now in play!
So bear with me. And, forgive my ignorance, but what does "MOG" stand for anyway? I've formulated some interesting possible answers, to appease my curiosity and penchant for randomness: My Oh GodMusic Or GamingMen On GoogleMusic Organization GadgetMusic Online (is) GreatMother Of (the) GroomMoron On GanjaMy Office GarageMob Organization Gangstas (Inc.) Hmmm. Then again, "MOG" could also be the love child of the words "music" and "blog." That would be quite prosai... MORE

I love this song, which I know probably makes me a little girlish....but I already have a girl's name, so I can deal. But my love of this song has been somewhat tainted by Joey and Pacey. Yes...from Dawson's Creek(wow, it wasn't my intention to sound like a 13yr old girl in this post, but I sure am doing a good job of it). A couple of years ago I was working third shift and every day when I would get home I had to stay up for a couple of hours to decompress before I was ... MORE
I remember driving along with mum listening to this cd in the car. Her talking about how she heard David on Parkinson and bought the cd. Anyway, this song came on and I'm pretty sure I just told mum to stop talking. It was just so beautiful. It will always get to me.
I have some David Gray CD's, he fucked up my mind about five years ago, I guess. I love this song. Damn that duality.
I don't exactly remember when or how I heard this song, but it had been a couple of years since I had heard it, when I thought of it this summer. I have a weird taste in music and it jumps around from genre to genre, I like this song so enjoy.
While waiting for MOM to churm through my apple lossless files, I've been listening to a fantastic live show by David Gray downloaded from archive.org This is CD quality sound, at least in FLAC, and you can get true gapless playback on OSX via the freeware COG audio player This is Gray circa White Ladder, so the past two albums aren't represented, but there is some great stuff from his earlier, often overlooked, CDs, including Shine, Flame Turns Blue, and Wisdom. htt...
