Alter Ego's 1997 collection Alternative Biography is a useful double-disc set that rounds up a bunch of rarities from David Bowie. This runs from 1969 to 1989 but most of them date from the '70s. There are several songs that come from the bonus tracks of the late '80s/early '90s Rykodisc reissues but there's also a wealth of live performances, including television performances, that make this bootleg worth seeking out for those hardcore collectors that already own any of the expanded reissues, either from Ryko or EMI.
