i bought this david allan coe CD the other day. here is the run down of my experience: it doesnt say live anywhere on the Cd but it is live there was a sticker over david allan coe's face on the cover. why is this important? well it is a picture from the concert where this is recorded and it would have tipped me off that not only is this a life recording but it is one that was recorded in the nineties when he was old as crap (he still is old as crap but whatever). ... My band is opening for David Allan Coe in a few weeks. I know he's written a number of great country songs, but I also know his latest CD _Rebel Meets Rebel_ was recorded with Pantera. So I'm not really sure what to expect. I've seen a few recent videos of DAC, and some have said he now sort of looks like a country version of George Clinton. We're being billed as a "Classic Rock Band", but we certainly don't want to find ourselves in a "Bob's Country Bunker" situation ... MORE

David Allan Coe. I got a lot of time for this bloke. Some may say he's full of shit, but if that's the case, he's been full of shit for 35 years. Gee, he's put out some great stuff. And for those who think Country is just bubblegum and hicks, you go take a listen to some of DAC's stuff it's rock and roll, soul and no bullshit music. David Allan Coe's "18 X-Rated Hits" is the clearest glimpse into the American underbelly in the history of recorded music. I first heard songs from this record when a chain-smoking uncle pulled me aside and said, "hey boy, you gotta hear this."
