My band is opening for David Allan Coe in a few weeks. I know he's written a number of great country songs, but I also know his latest CD _Rebel Meets Rebel_ was recorded with Pantera. So I'm not really sure what to expect. I've seen a few recent videos of DAC, and some have said he now sort of looks like a country version of George Clinton. David Allan Coe's "18 X-Rated Hits" is the clearest glimpse into the American underbelly in the history of recorded music. I first heard songs from this record when a chain-smoking uncle pulled me aside and said, "hey boy, you gotta hear this."
