David Holmes - I Heard Wonders - Yes, You DO Know Him!

Artist:
Album:
Other Tags: Primal Scream, Suicide, death in vegas
Blank (12)

It has been years since DJ-producer David Holmes released an album; September 8th will see the delivery of 'The Holy Pictures'. The first single is 'I Hear Wonders', which sees Holmes teaming up with Martin Rev from legendary 70s electro-punks Suicide, to write the lyrics for this track. Musically, it recalls the sounds of his 2000 album 'Bow Down To The Exit Sign' and should go down well with any fans of Primal Scream, Death In Vegas

A Soundtrack Worth Repeating

Artist:
Album: Out Of Sight

What was that last Jennifer Lopez movie that was worth watching? Thought that was a trick question, huh? Perhaps, I missed the vérité aspects of "Maid in Manhatten", but there is one that pops into my head in which I enjoyed, but whose soundtrack I enjoyed even more - Out of Sight. While it's easy to overlook this film as one more in a series of poor takes on the work of Elmore Leonard, this is a smooth film with good characters that has a soundtrack that is infinitely... MORE

Soundtrack - Ocean's 12

Artist:
Other Tags: Ocean's 12, Soundtrack
Blog post image preview (Photo courtesy of amazon.com) I really enjoyed Ocean's 11 when I saw it in theatres, and I enjoyed the soundtrack just the same. I passed on Ocean's 12 because I felt that a sequel wasn't necessary & would cheapen the first film. I caved in & watched it on cable recently. I liked the movie but I felt that it wasn't as tight as 11. However, the soundtrack for Ocean's 12 is on point. My favorite tracks are #1 (Ornella Vanoni - _"L'Appuntamento"_), #6 (Piero Umiliani - _... MORE

Great Movie Music: Ocean's Thirteen

Artist:
Album: Music From The Motion Picture Ocean's Thirteen
Track:
(122)
I saw the movie Ocean's Thirteen over the weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit. You can read my little review at my main blog. David Holmes, who did the music for the first two films, also did the music for this one and I must say that his score is damn good. It's just incredibly cool-sounding. Ocean's Thirteen is a fun flick worth seeing. If that doesn't motivate you to see it, the great music certainly should.

Blog post image preview This album has been a favourite for a long time. David Holmes travelled to New York to collect samples to use for the album, and managed to find some great snippets of New York life, including a chilling story of theft and violence (Let's Get Killed), a debate about whether John Shaft would kick James Bond's ass (Radio 7) and a surprisingly lucid guy listing all the drugs he'd taken in the past couple of days (Caddell Returns). Holmes moved on after this into movie soun... MORE
