Damien Rice

Damien RIce....in a word....INTENSE

Great show tonight...I was disappointed heading into the show, knowing that Lisa Hannigan who was prominently featured on both of his albums had recently stopped touring with Damien to record her own album, but that disappointment faded quickly. From the first few notes of the show opener '9 Crimes' through the entire set, the energy and intensity never waned....just a great show. The set was he...

"We might live like never before/ when there's nothin' to give/ how can we ask for more?"

I've got Lost on my mind. Delicate was the last song Hurley listen to, in Season 1 episode called In Translation, before the batteries in his discman died out. I say bring back the music. Why doesn't Hurley have a Dharma prototype walkman in the 70's?Delicate is one of my favorites off O. I woke up with the lyrics in my head this morning. It always brings me back to this episode. When Hurley's ...

Angst...and quite possibly the best use of 'F*ck You' in the history of recorded music
over 2 years ago

I love the way this song lulls you into a kinda of melancholy place and then just explodes with anger...when I hear this song I think about one particular relationship in my life...in fact I think somehow Damien Rice implanted some sort of recording device in my brain and plucked these lyrics right out of my head!

Woman Like A Man - Damien Rice
Blog post image preview

Woman like a Man has to be one of my favorite Damien Rice songs if only because its so different from his typical melancholy style of song. Not that I don't like his style but after two albums I feel it's about time he evolves and expands his soundscapes into new territories like Ray Lamontagne. There's something lusty and sinister about Woman like a Man that's makes this song so addicting. We n...

Ruby Sessions Tenth Anniversary – photo gallery
14 days ago

This month saw the tenth birthday of the Ruby Sessions, the weekly acoustic night held upstairs in Doyles Pub on College Street in Dublin. Given that the sessions have played host to some (if not most) of the major names in Irish music over the years, it was fitting that the guest list for these…

So this is how it looks outside the front of my house right now. We are being pummeled with snow, here in CO. Four foot drifts all around ... but it's not so bad ... I've outfitted my new eskimo cave with a LAN and high speed internet so I can continue mogging right through!

Beyond Air Supply: All out of love

This one is for all you who've ever loved and lost. The jilted lovers. The poor, dissed, paramours. The unrequited masses. We've all been there, right? I just love a good, sardonic send-off. Then of course there are the truly-pissed kick-the-loser-to-the-curb kind of send-offs. Following are a few of my favorites, both for their lyrics and straight up musical appeal. Lose on suckers!Damien Rice...
