They start on August 24th at the KOKO with HEALTH and Deerhunter and then move on to do their own with a headline show on the 25th at the Macbeth.
Crystal Antlers, the ironically endearing Long Beach group of 6 skyrocketing to popularity across an increasingly diverse range of listeners, spews a veritable miasmatic carnival of instrumentation flanged with primal vocals from singer, Jonny Bell, who also kills it on bass. The line-up: Kevin Stuart, drums; Damian Edwards, percussion; Andrew King, guitar; Jonny Bell, bass, vocals, woodwinds; V...

Try as you may, but you won't be able to click away from this stunning video, the debut visual clip from Crystal Antlers. The band, whose Touch & Go-released Tentacles disc is so good it hurts our feelings, rife with...
Talented noise-makers Crystal Antlers are one seriously busy band. They release their debut album Tentacles next week in the UK (SG Review HERE) and are touring this side of the world in May (SG News HERE) but the weirdest news is that just before they headed out on their previous tour, the band wrote a feature film.
The CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival invades New York City this week. Here's the latest from PopMatters' writers on the beat.Slang ChickensCake Shop, New York CityNo frills here. Slang Chickens bathed the cavernish Cake Shop in sleepy southern harmonies lifted by a charmingly confident frontman Friday night. The four-piece was stripped to the bone-–with three-part harmonies drifting across.
So the entire Tape crew made our way downtown to check out this years very ambitious FYF Fest (formerly the Fuck Yeah Fest). After last years incredibly fun festival at the Echoplex, the jump from under 1,000 people to over 5,000 proved to be a difficult task for the FYF crew. The gates opened an [...]
What’s up with all the bands out there with “crystal” in their names? The Crystal Antlers are another in the long line of emerging California alternative bands to recently take hold and they are varied in a way that’s difficult to slot them nicely into a neat genre. Frankly, that’s refreshing.Tentacles is a wonderfully diverse [...]
It's become obvious recently that "Crystal" is the new "Deer" which was the new "Wolf" as far as indie band names are concerned. The latest in the long line of Crystal bands is Long Beach's Crystal Antlers. After making some ripples with their debut EP last year, the band returns with a full length, Tentacles, April 7th.Combining post-rock with classic garage rock sound and production, Crystal
Past live favorites Crystal Antlers are following 2008's self-titled, initially self-released EP with Tentacles , their Touch & Go full-length debut. They performed a track from the new collection, the crunchy and dynamic "Andrew," ostensibly named after guitarist Andrew King, or some other Andrew, when they stopped by Fuel's Daily Habit. For fans of the old, they also gave us "Until the Sun D...

So the last band I saw was "Crystal Antlers" at Mercury Lounge in the Lower East Side. You can see me in this video on youtube in the front row (I'm the headbanging guy with the long red/blonde hair and beard in the front row to the left). It was a pretty fantastic show aside from the aptly titled "assclowns" who were rolling around in the middle of the crowd plastered out of their minds. I headb...

Crystal Antlers, The Invisible and Three Trapped Tigers could probably all headline DiScover gigs themselves, but on Wednesday they played on the same bill at our Sheffield event. Weren't we lucky?Of course, we knew what to expect from The Invisible, who'd turned in a fantastically funky set of interesting pop the previous night at our Deaf Institute showcase in Manchester, but the other two we...
