Crowded House is a pop-rock group formed in Melbourne, Australia and led by New Zealand musician and singer-songwriter Neil Finn. Active between 1985 and 1996, their notable hits include "Don't Dream It's Over", "Something So Strong", "Better Be Home Soon", and "Weather with You". The group announced their reunion in 2007.

I've been to see Crowded House and Neil Finn playing solo a lot of times over the years, and every single time - no matter what the venue, and no matter in which country, the sound is superb. Every single lyric is clearly audible, which is a real treat. It makes the live experience even better than listening to recordings. I've had a pretty amazing month for catching old favorites in live settings. In the past 30 days, I've seen The Police at Dodger Stadium and Paul McCartney at Amoeba Records. But I honestly think last night topped both of those. Seeing Neil Finn and Crowded House in my favorite venue in Los Angeles, the 300-capacity Troubadour, was the treat of a lifetime. One of those oft hoped-for and long-awaited reunions that didn't seem likely to ever occur (Recurring Dreams?) - especially after the tragic loss of Paul Hester - came to pass in grand style just on sunset at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.

The recently reformed Crowded House has announced details concerning Time On Earth, their first record of new material since 1993's Together Alone. Time On Earth will be released by EMI \Parlophone worldwide on July 2nd 2007, with the exception of North America where it will be released by ATO Records on July 10th. Johnny Marr threw his hat in and wrote new music with the guys from Australian band Crowded House. "Even A Child" written with frontman Neil Finn will be featured on the band's first album in 14 years, Time On Earth(Capitol).
Marr, formerly of the Smiths and currently in Modest Mouse, undoubtedly will bring a lot of new attention to the group.
Time On Earth is due for release July 3. The band will also be at Coachella on Sunday.

As if a Coachella performance wasn't enough to please fans of the Melbourne based band, Crowded House are releasing a new album next year, after an 11 year hiatus. From the BBC :

Some ten years ago, Crowded House said farewell to the world in a final concert in front of 120,000 fans in Sydney at the Opera House. The CD and DVD of this concert is out, reminding the world what a great band Crowded House was.
