Born Lonnie Rashied Lynn in Chicago, the rapper who would become an integral part of the 1990s underground hip-hop scene started out as Common Sense. His 1992 debut CAN I BORROW A DOLLAR? showcased a politically conscious, musically eclectic artist interested in expanding the boundaries of hip-hop. Method Man and Redman are back with a song called "Broken Language". The duo have said they're planning a follow up album for years, but with they've been known to take their sweet time with music.
Next up is "The Light 2008" from Common, this remix to his 2000 version was produced by Just Blaze. The creation of this track played a big part in Common's decision to release a 6 song EP this summer.

Earlier this week, Common revealed that he had began recording songs for a new full length album to be released this fall. Despite having three feature films to shoot this year, Common was confident he'd have the time to put into a new album. Although his latest album "Finding Forever" isn't too far back on the shelves , Common has already began recording a follow up. The new album is titled "The Believer" and with a little luck, Common won't have to compete against Kanye West in next year's Grammy Awards.

The full length version of Common's Testify had only been shown once during a special MTV premiere years ago. The short film was directed by Anthony Mandler, and produced by Boxfresh Pictures. It stars Taraji Henson, Wood Harris, Steve Harris, Kenny Burns and Kevin Black. The song was a critical hit garnering a nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 48th Grammy Awards.

Common's acting career just keeps getting better. After great roles alongside Jeremy Piven in Smokin Aces, and Denzel Washington in American Gangster, Common is teaming up with Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie in Wanted. Two very good videos found their way to the internet this morning. First is Common's "Drivin Me Wild", shot just weeks ago before Lily Allen got the boot from U.S. Immigration. The video was shot in L.A. and is very stylish, but definitely not a typical hip hop video.

It seems as though Common and Lily Allen got to shoot the video for Drivin Me Wild before she was booted out of the country. The video hasn't premiered yet, but still shots and a short clip of Common giving insight into the song have surfaced. Judging by the pics, Lily's dressed like the crazy astronaut lady Common references in the song, I wonder if shes wearing a pamper too

Common scored his first Number One record ever this week when his latest Finding Forever debuted at Number One on the charts. Despite selling 155,000 copies it still did not top his last album, Be's highest sales for a single week (185,00 copies) which only topped the charts at Number 2. Common , "The People"

The Good: I Want You & Forever Begins are standout tracks. Overall the LP is very cohesive, mellow, and great to zone out to. The Bad: Both collaborations with Kanye are just "ok". The Ugly: The album is only 13 tracks, one of them is a very short intro, one of them was released in february, and the other was on J Dilla's last album. Only 9 new songs? Come on man....

I've been waiting for Common's new disc for almost a year. Now that it's less than two weeks away, I'm starting to get a little anxious. God knows, that shit could get pushed back at the drop of a hat (see Kweli). I'm still excited, though.
This new single, Drivin' Me Wild, features Lily Allen with production by K. West. The track ain't really bangin like I was expecting. Com rocked it, though. You decide.
