After receiving airplay on Mary Anne Hobbs' Radio 1 show in the U.K., the theme from the movie Pi began to receive attention. In response, this 12" was pressed and released in a limited edition in the U.K. Due to a lack of sales, neither a full U.S. or U.K. release occurred.

Composed by Clint Mansell, formerly of Pop Will Eat Itself, the main theme is an intensely eerie breakbeat track, intercut with samples of dialog from the film. The extended mix presented here, despite being twice as long, eliminates the samples and loses its sense of pacing in the process. The original mix is also included here.

The Jamie Myerson mix nearly triples the length of the track, turning it into an anthemic drum'n'bass track. Although the track's original feeling is preserved, the sense of pacing is lost, and Myerson seems to have added very little to this mix.

On the flip side, Atlanta club producers Wamdue morph the theme into a dancy house mix. Enough elements remain to key you in to the original nature of this track, but Wamdue takes a twisted pride in the jerky, paranoiac, out of sync feeling that categorized both movie and theme. Instead of brooding, the track has a dancy, upbeat feel.
