All Music GuideBecause the fidelity here is rather primitive compared to his later tapes and records, it's likely that only serious Newell/Cleaners fans will want to get this deep into his discography. If (only slightly) funky production values don't bother you (or actually please you), you shouldn't be disappointed with this. The songs are there, and that's the important thing. Nicely catchy, interesting compositions, sung with a sense of humor, especially "Be An Idiot Popstar" (a David Byrne satire, perhaps?) and the lounge-pop satire "A Fool Like You."
