It doesn't seem that long ago that Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were a major success story for online music. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah was one of the first albums that we now think of when we think of a "Pitchfork" album, appreciated by no one outside a miniscule sphere until it was picked out of a pile and given a glowing review in 2005. The band's hype died down almost as quickly as it started aft...
Everybody knows clapping your hands and saying yeah isn't a one-man job. You can clap hands or you can say yeah, but doing both at once? Preposterous. It took four men, under the guise of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, to properly clap hands and say yeah. Properly clapping and saying yeah must have been even harder than imagined, though, as CYHSY have been silent since the mixed reception of their 2...
Alec Ounsworth, the frontman of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has confirmed details of his debut solo LP. Titled Mo Beauty, the ten track full length is due out on October 20th and was recorded alongside producer Steve Berlin in New Orleans. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are coming to Atlanta for a free show, courtesy of one of my favorite partners in crime, Jack Daniel's. The show is Monday, April 20 and they are giving away 150 free tickets (no tickets will be for sale for this show). To get your free ...
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have put up a demo of their new song “Statues” on their website. The song is actually about to premiere on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, but the band posted it a bit earlier than expected. After one listen I really like it. God it has been some time since [...]
CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH – SOME LOUD THUNDER (2007)Alec Ounsworth’s Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were one of the stories of 2005. Buoyed by the bloggers, some positive reviews from the Indie websites, the jerky post punks’ debut effort was a surprising success, and another example of the power of creating the groundswell of interest via the internet. Their sophomore release carries a degree of e
O.K. so I'm listening to "Some Loud Thunder" right now, and I'm thinking of how much better this album would be if Alec Ounsworth could sing. The poor bloke can't hold a tune in a bucket. He sounds like a drunken David Byrne wearing a synchronized swimmers nose clip. I'm sure they've got something going for them (and ofcourse Pitchfork loves them "All Hail Pitchfork"), but I'm struggling with t...
Well, I am back, and I am going to re-establish myself and get myself back on the top of the second page. Well, I got the new Shins c.d., finally, and i stated previously that it could have been better. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! It just took a LONG time for me to finally "get" it, you know what I mean? I also got "Some Loud Thunder" from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah...It's BRILLIANT!!! It's really qui...

You know , the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! is quite good , it is quirky , groovy , fresh and refreshing . i really enjoy the singers voice and the band has a really unique way of building up then tearing down. In fact the more I listen , the more epic this album sounds. Its full of big sounds without sounding pushy or over produced. Songs like "Yankee go home" and "Satan said dance" have a ja...
Tonight is a fairly slow night for shows, but there are a few. In DC Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and PWRFL Power play DC9. Up in Philly the First Unitarian Church has The Notwist and Dosh. That's all I know. What do you know? mp3: The Notwist - Gloomy Planets mp3: Dosh - If You Want [...]
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are heading off to Hollywood. The Brooklyn buzz band has won over the hearts of not only us, their adoring fans, but some major movie execs. Turns out CYHSY postponed several (5!) Midwest tour dates to jet off to Tinseltown so they could appear in The Great Buck Howard, alongside Oscar winner Tom Hanks, John Malkovich, Emily Blunt and Hank’s son, Colin Hanks. And, how .
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have added a few club dates to their summer festival ltour schedule. following stops at Lollapalooza, Street Scene, and the inaugural Monolith Music festival in Colorado, CYHSY will play a three-night residency at L.A.'s Troubadour. After which they will head out to the Midwest. The dates, for which Elvis perkins in Dearland will open for, come in continued support of t...

Another one of these youtube people!!! this guy is especially sad...he has taken old America's Funniest Home Video's clips and put them to song...what the FU*K??? Man....I didn't think I could get more bored on some days...apparently I was incorrect...and I tell you all this...the day I start to painstakingly edit together footage of bad early 90's TV shows set to a song I like...you all, ALL h...
